Why is Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT) useful?

Pre-lingually deafened users do not have the neural pathways to process speech and can find it difficult to understand cochlear implant sound and comprehend speech. AVT helps the patient to learn how to listen, how to use your brain to interpret sound. This is not the same as learning to hear.
